Clinical Social Worker/Program Specialist: Perini Clinic for Pediatric Cancer Survivors-Longwood Medical Center LCSW or LICSW Required Exciting opportunity as a dedicated ambulatory social worker providing clinical oncology social work services to off-treatment survivors of childhood cancers across the lifespan. In collaboration with other DFCI psychosocial and oncology clinicians, this role will provide consultation and supportive intervention for survivors of childhood cancers and their families who are followed in the Perini Clinic from early adolescence into adulthood. As an integrated member of the survivorship care team, this role will develop education and support programs to meet the needs of this population and to improve the patient and family experience. This role is situated at Longwood Medical Center within the Division of Social Work at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in the Department of Psychosocial Oncology and Palliative Care, and within the Perini Family Survivors’ Center. Excellent position for a social worker with a background in adolescents and young adults with cancer or other serious illness, and experience leading psychoeducation and support groups. Position calls for best practice intervention, collaboration, and consultation related to this patient population. Experience in program development required. This ambulatory social work role provides in-person and telehealth services to patients and families (i.e., phone/Zoom video); modalities include individual, family, and group work. Candidate must be able to thrive in a fast paced, complex, academic medical environment where the social worker is a key, valued member of the multidisciplinary medical team. Master’s Degree in Social Work from accredited program Massachusetts license (LCSW or LICSW) 1 year previous program or project experience Previous experience in hospital or healthcare setting Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required Strong background with young adults treated for cancer or other serious illness preferred Experience leading psychoeducation and support groups preferred Experience conducting psychosocial triage, assessment and referral for adolescent/adult patients with anxiety, depression and other mental disorders preferred Ability to respond to psychosocial needs and concerns across a broad spectrum of ages within the patient population Strong patient engagement and clinical assessment skills Crisis intervention and treatment skills Interdisciplinary team collaboration skills Bilingual English/Spanish preferred Demonstrates understanding of systemic inequities, their impact on patients, families, and the community at large Strong organizational skills: ability to triage and determine priorities; tolerance for ambiguity Excellent communication, oral and written Analytical skills; computer proficiency Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility to change Demonstrates initiative to achieve goals Demonstrates commitment to diversity and equity efforts, including advocacy and self-education to advance knowledge base of the needs and concerns of underserved and marginalized populations Schedule M-F, with regular evening hours and occasional weekend hours for education and support programs ; 32 hours/week Hybrid Schedule 2 days onsite/2 days remote If interested in this opportunity, please submit a resume and a cover letter detailing your experience, qualifications and skills for this position.
