Job Description

Under the supervision of the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Manager, supervises rehab exercises and provides education to patients. Provides a safe environment for each patient to exercise and learn various techniques to improve their quality of life. Proficient in patient assessments with attention to evaluating the patient's response to exercise or the need to modify exercise. Proficient in education on chronic lung disease smoking and other related respiratory issues. Able to effectively communicate patient's progress or problems to the Medical Director or referring physicians. Provides ongoing patient follow-up until completion of the program. Demonstrates ability to utilize all equipment in the pulmonary rehab area, including cleaning, assembly, maintenance and troubleshooting. Completes all documentation accurately and in a timely manner Responsible for the care of patients in pulmonary rehabilitation. 

Qualifications

A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Respiratory Therapy and/or Pulmonary Rehabilitation. ACLS, BLS required. Must be proficient in oxygen supplementation, pulmonary medications, and clinical assessment skills. Must feel comfortable completing six-minute walk tests, rest and exercise oximetry testing, recording exercise vitals, and teaching pulmonary rehab patients 1:1 and in group settings on topics related to pulmonary disease and management. Must feel comfortable adjusting exercise prescription based off vital signs. Must hold license of Registered Respiratory Therapist.

Anna Jaques Hospital is a 123 bed community hospital serving 17 cities and towns in the Merrimack Valley . The hospital offers a wide range of acute care services to meet the needs of our growing patient population including inpatient and outpatient surgery in fully digitized computerized operating room suites, cardiology including echocardiography and a cardiac cath lab, comprehensive cancer services, orthopedics, nuclear medicine, laboratory, noninvasive vascular lab, joint replacement program and birth center.

The hospitals Non Invasive Vascular laboratory was accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL).

For the second year in a row, the American Association for Respiratory Care awarded the hospital its Quality Respiratory Care Recognition. The hospital had no ventilator acquired pneumonia cases during the last year.

The Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Center is the only such center to receive full accreditation from the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) in Massachusetts .
