Ancora State Psychiatric Hospital is seeking experienced Therapist of Art as a member of the therapeutic treatment team that plans, develops implements and conducts art therapy to provide the opportunity for non-verbal expressions and communication via the various media of art to further self-awareness and personal growth for the individual. This therapy is relevant to the design of positive interventions and supports within a multidisciplinary

Mental health setting serving a diverse adult population with severe and persistent mental illness.

NOTE: Effective 9/1/11, NJ PL 70 (NJ First Act), requires all State employees to reside in New Jersey, unless exempted under the law, or current employees who live out-of-state and do not have a break-in service of more than 7 calendar days, as they are “grandfathered.” New employees or current employees who were not grandfathered and who live out-of-state have one year after the date of employment to relocate their residence to New Jersey or request an exemption. • All applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college, with a major course of study in art, art therapy or art education.
• One (1) year of professional experience in an art therapy program is required.
• A Master's degree in art therapy or creative arts therapy with a specialization in art therapy may be substituted for the one (1) year of experience.
• Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey.
• Work week will be Monday through Friday, 8am-4:30pm.
