Working in our Cancer Center pharmacy, responsible for core pharmacy technician duties including preparation of IV admixtures as well as chemotherapy and other hazardous medications under supervision of a pharmacist. Responsible for inventory management including supplies and medication stocking of automated dispensing cabinets. Responsible for various projects including compliance as assigned by Oncology Pharmacy Supervisor.
High school graduate or equivalent and be at least 18 years of age.
Registration with Montana Board of Pharmacy as Technician-in-Training upon hire.
Successful completion of national technician certification examination and registration with Montana Board of Pharmacy as Certified Technician within 18 months of registration as Technician-in-Training.
National Certification and MT Board of Pharmacy registration as Certified Pharmacy Technician
Experience as a pharmacy technician with IV compounding and/or completion of didactic program preferred but not required.
LICENSURE and CERTIFICATION
Registration with Montana Board of Pharmacy as Certified Technician.
Competent in all core areas of in-patient pharmacy services, including IV compounding, Epic, Omnicell.
KNOWLEDGE OF, SKILLS IN, ABILITY TO, COMPLEXITY AND DIFFICULY:
Knowledge of personal computers, hardware, basic software programs including Microsoft Outlook, word processing, and spreadsheets
Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to refer to policy manual for specific instructions/guidelines.

COMPLEXITY AND DIFFICULTY:
60% Time Spent -
Responsible for compounding and dispensing of medications, IV medications, and chemotherapy upon appropriate order under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
Demonstrates knowledge of aseptic technique and ability to use closed system-transfer device for chemotherapy compounding.
Maintains clean and safe operation of biological safety cabinets, clean rooms, pharmaceutical refrigerators, and automated dispensing cabinets.
15% Time Spent -
Responsible for maintaining and ordering pharmacy medication stock and medical supplies for the pharmacy and infusion areas.
Ensures proper inventory, rotation of stock, and dating. Utilizes reports to optimize inventory management and medication waste reporting as assigned.

Responsible for receiving orders, unpacking orders, verifying contents, restocking shelves/bins/automated dispensing cabinets, and returning pharmacy stock as needed.
5% Time Spent -
Responsible for periodic verification of narcotic inventory and daily when filling orders or restocking automated dispensing cabinets.
5% Time Spent -
Assists in resolution of automated dispensing cabinet issues as appropriate.
Assists pharmacists with projects and performs other duties as assigned by Oncology Pharmacy Supervisor or System Pharmacy Manager.
