The Cardiovascular Interventional Technologist 1 assists the physician in performing interventional, cardiovascular, and operating room procedures. Uses pre-established imaging protocols and departmental policy to perform safe operation of imaging equipment and all functions of the job. May provide complete pre and post education to patients and family. Minimal departmental responsibilities delegated by clinical supervisor. This position focuses on developing strong skills in scrubbing and monitoring in the cardiac cath lab, electrophysiology, and/or interventional radiology. Reports to Manager or Supervisor.
Assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac or peripheral vascular treatments, such as implanting pacemakers or assisting with balloon angioplasties to treat blood vessel blockages. Always follows as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA) guidelines and operate fluoroscopic imaging equipment to produce contrast enhanced radiographs of heart, vascular, cardiovascular system.
Check, test, and maintain fluoroscopy equipment, to ensure proper operation. Completes all other equipment daily checks/test that must be performed and documented before first procedure and notifies lead and/or service when daily checks/test fail.
Monitor patients' blood pressure, oxygen saturation, heart rate, comfort and patient safety. Ensures patient vital sign documentation is accurate and alert physicians of abnormalities. Uses electrocardiogram (EKG) equipment during diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. Maintains a proper sterile field during surgical procedures.
Additional duties are correctly and appropriately completed within the specified time frame as required by managers/supervisors.
