JOB SUMMARY
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Maternal Child Department provides safe, compassionate, and family-centered nursing care to obstetric, postpartum, newborn, pediatric, and gynecologic patients under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or provider. The LPN collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to support positive maternal and infant outcomes while promoting patient education, safety, and high-quality care consistent with organizational mission and values.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Performs assessment appropriate to licensure and documents on the patient record.
  • Participates in development of an age-appropriate plan of care, which addresses physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs, in collaboration with other members of the health care team.
  • Implements the plan of care, delegates appropriately and ensures documentation of interventions.
  • Assists with patient and family teaching regarding current health status, plan of care, and anticipated outcomes.
  • Assists with evaluating patient response to intervention and revision of plan of care.
  • Provides service excellence to all customers.
  • Practices fiscal responsibility and accountability.
  • Maintains professional standards related to clinical practice and continuing education.
  • Actively participates in hospital committees, CQI teams, and Quality Improvement Program.
  • Scrubs for CS deliveries as needed.
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment.
  • May be required to work on other nursing units according to distribution of staff and patients.
  • Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.
  • Other duties as assigned. This list is non-exhaustive.
 

Qualifications

  • Education
    • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing required.
  • Licensure
    • Current, unrestricted Wyoming Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license required.
  • Certifications
    • IV-Certified as required by the Wyoming State Board of Nursing.
    • Current CPR certification in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Experience
    • One (1) year of experience in Maternal-Child Health (OB, postpartum, nursery) preferred.
