Job Summary: Assist in areas of the laboratory including but not limited to: Anatomic Pathology, Core laboratory, and Microbiology. Processes, and labels specimens in accordance with laboratory policies. Prepares various samples, such as blood, urine, tissue, and other specimen types for testing. Gathers data and statistics for reports, processes samples for referral testing. Tracks status of patient reports from referral laboratories.
Responsible for general laboratory tasks such as but not limited to reagent preparation, inventory management, receiving and storing of reagents, set up of waived testing, and loading samples on appropriate laboratory equipment, instrument maintenance under the supervision of a section manager or delegate. Takes direction and works in collaboration with MT’s, MLT’s, HLT,’s HT’s, CT’s and PA’s in the laboratory.
Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent. No prior laboratory experience required. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Experience with computers and data entry required. Medical Terminology knowledge and experience in a healthcare setting preferred. Considerate ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment and with varied tasks simultaneously. Good organizational and interpersonal skills as well as good teamwork skills.
