Job Description

Island Health is offering a $4,000 sign-on bonus for an experienced Emergency Department Technician for our Part-Time Night Shift at our hospital in Anacortes, WA.

Work Schedule:

  • 0.6 FTE / 24 hours weekly
  • Night shift / 7:00 pm – 7:30 am


Salary Range: $21.98 - $32.65 / hr.

  • Night Differential - $2.25
  • Evening Differential - $1.65
  • Weekend Differential - $1.50
  • Sign-on bonus: $4,000 for eligible new employees

 Emergency Department Technician Job Responsibilities:

  • Transports patients to rooms/ treatment rooms, using wheelchair or stretcher, or assists them to walk.
  • Obtains and documents vital signs including blood pressure, heart rate, respiration rate, temperature and pain level and places appropriate patients on the cardiac monitor.
  • Answers call lights and determines patients' needs. Assists patients as needed (dress and undress patients, assist with toileting etc.).
  • Assists with various examinations and treatments including but not limited to: pelvic exams, chest tube placements, wound care, laceration repair, and closed reduction of limbs.
  • Verifies discharge sheet against admission sheet for accuracy and return of valuables such as glasses, hearing aids and items stored in safe.
  • Distributes charts of discharged patients and distributes appropriately.
  • Places surgery pack and consent on chart when ordered.
  • Takes specimens to lab; directs patients/visitors.
  • Retrieves medical records on admits after hours.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant course of study.
  • Current Washington State Certified Nursing Assistant registration.
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification.
  • Experience working in a busy clinical setting with changing priorities preferred.
