Job Summary: Provides patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Performs all activities in accordance with approved policies and guidelines. Performs a variety of clerical and related duties in the emergency department. Facilitates communication among patients, visitors, nursing staff and other health care team members in order to promote effective working relationships.
Qualifications: Certification of completion of Nursing Assistant II classes required. Meets North Carolina State Board of Nursing requirements and is registered as a Nurse Aide II on the registry. Meets Division of Facility Services requirements for NA I listing. Must maintain BLS certification. CPI required. A high school diploma or equivalent is required or must be obtained within 18 months of hire date. Skill in dealing tactfully with patients, nursing staff, physicians, hospital employees, and the general public. Knowledge of personal computers, medical terminology, lab tests, typing skills, and basic grammar. Complete blood collection inner facility training program within 60 days of hire. Ability to transport patients. Competent with basic office duties including but not limited to answering the telephone, filing, customer service, basic computer skills, ability to deal tactfully with physicians, staff, and all patient populations.
